How to motivate your team this holiday season.
Create a Christmas charity event at work
There are many fun ways you can give back this Christmas. Everyone loves a fun, friendly competition. An ugly Christmas sweater contest is a great way for your team members to join in the festivities, show off their creativity and make a donation to a charitable cause.
Christmas Decorations
Set up a team of employees who will be responsible for delegating decorating duties for everyone in the office! This will make people feel involved, even those grumpy scrooges! Decorating for the holidays is proven to elevate morale which will in return increase productivity. Definitely one to consider!
Host an appreciation ceremony
What about organising an ‘Employee Appreciation Ceremony’ where people are awarded on their achievements or their qualities, like ‘the most encouraging person in the office, the most organised, or the motivator of the year’. This way everyone feels included not only the ones who excelled in their work.
This is a classic – SECRET SANTA GIFT EXCHANGE
Whether the gifts are jokes or actual thoughtful gifts, ‘Secret Santa’ will always be something to look forward to! It’s a fun activity that doesn’t require a lot of setting up for the person organising it. It’s also good for introverts and extroverts which is a plus.
Let the staff leave early
This might not always be possible, but for the ones who can leave early around the holiday season. So why not let them off early on Christmas & New Years Eve? If this is not possible, you could always set up a few drinks and some nibbles for them to enjoy whilst finishing off their work.
Organise a Christmas dinner at the workplace
This is a great way to make everyone feel involved and show off their cooking skills. Have your team members each prepare some finger food which could then be shared during lunch the day before leaving for Christmas break.
Christmas Cards
If you can’t afford a special Christmas bonus or a little token of appreciation for your team members, why not take the time to write a personalised message? A simple card wishing the team a happy Christmas and a happy new year would go a long way, even expressing gratitude for all the hard work they’ve done throughout the year. Its simple things like these that really make a colleague feel appreciated and loved in what sometimes can be a very lonely and sad time of the year for some people.
Games! Specifically, Christmas themed games
This is a fun way to encourage the team to interact with each other and to help you connect with the team! You can play games like a wrapping contest, you take different items around the office that can be wrapped and set a time limit on them and a judge decides which is best. There’s also Christmas charades or Pictionary which are also great fun!
Don’t these ideas sound fun? Of course, they do! Give them a shot and we can guarantee you’d be thanking yourself for taking the time to make everyone feel involved this holiday season.
