It`s Alright, It`s OKAY!
Tips on how to move forward when you don’t get the job
According to psychological studies, Rejection (both professionally & personally) can cause emotional pain ‘so sharp, it affects our thinking’, a feeling of anger, a blow to our self-esteem, and a loss of that feeling of belonging.
Here are a few tips to help you bounce back and face those feelings head on after being rejected from a job!
Reconnect with yourself and those around you
Practice Mindfulness; learn to live in the present moment. Practice self-care and appreciate what is good in your life. Acknowledge your success and remind yourself not to allow a rejection to define you, because all of us are fallible. Learn that there are some things that we cannot change. A positive mind-set is the key to your success.
Venting out your rejection with a good friend or family member could help you more than you think; maybe they had been in a similar situation before you. Surround yourself with people that embrace new challenges, who are motivated and optimistic. We are influenced a lot by the people around us.
Accept your situation
This is easier said than done but in truth, avoiding the situation will only prevent you from moving on. Rejection is life’s way of redirecting you, take this as an opportunity to make a list of all the possibilities ahead of you and your future goals, instead of spending the time analysing what went wrong. Getting focused on your negative feelings will distract you from the most important focus: Learning.
Keep the job search moving
As F Scott Fitzgerald wisely said “Never confuse a single defeat with a final defeat”
Take in any constructive criticism into consideration. What could you have done differently? Keep looking at new job posts, new opportunities, take a different approach to job hunting and always remember it doesn’t hurt to ask for help!
You have a choice
Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Hanks, Tina Fey and Walt Disney are a few well known people that also got rejected in their life some not only once, but rejection did not stop them from achieving in their life, so neither will it stop you!
We all have a choice in situations like this so choose wisely and stay optimistic!
Sometimes in life, you are given one huge challenge after another, the best things to do is to get through each one. It is always better to live through stresses and life changes rather that avoiding them. Grab on to that feeling of bending rather than breaking.
So remember, when life puts you through tough situations don’t say “Why Me?” say “TRY ME!”
